Sometimes the topic of data visualization seems like it's absurdly futuristic and remote from a layperson's understanding. However, this post on mashable.com makes it immediate and understandable thanks to really eye-catching videos, including Radiohead's House of Cards video.

What struck me here is not the content, though that is very cool (it may be time to give Skyrails another try). Rather it suggests that the best way to communicate on the web is now via media--video, audio, and interactive graphics.
This is the next evolution of the web itself, the web truly becoming Web 2.0. If media has now become the web's predominate form of communicating effectively, how might a company respond to that? If you are considering updating your corporate web site, how would you best take advantage of this new web as a vehicle for media? Who produces it? How should it be posted? How is it used to promote your company, products or services? And how do you capitalize on the marketing potential of your posts?
