If you haven't already, you should definitely read what Bruce Sterling's had to say about the whole idea of web 2.0 and what comes next. It will take you more than a couple minutes - he doesn't provide you a snippet, a chunk, or a nice short web-bite. Rather, he explores, unpacks and deconstructs the concepts about the web that we were obsessed with these last few years and that have now, pretty much, come fully into being. And then he does the natural though too rare thing of imagining, 'what comes next?'
And that is the question, I suppose. I suspect that the answer will not satisfy a lot of programmers, IT leaders, or other technology fetishists. Shockingly, it may have more to do with old fashioned ideas of interacting with people and understanding their lives. Oh my. Say it isn't so!
